At-home MathOnce I let you know it's time to start practicing the facts at home, you'll know we've been hard at work in class practicing our number facts too!Please keep practicing the addition facts to 10 at home. You can use flash cards, computer games, songs...anything that works to help get the facts down. In class, we use counting on as a strong strategy and we also use number lines, ten frames and a hundreds chart to give the children a visual relationship between the numbers as we add. After February break, it's time to focus on number facts to 20.Check out this article and suggested tracking lists for "sight numbers" practice at home. You can print out the lists and use them to practice the facts to 20 at home. It is important for students to have memorized the sums to 20 in order to free their working memory as they learn more complex concepts in 2nd grade.
