Book of the Month:
Little Red Writing
By Joan Holub
Illustrated by Melissa Sweet
Dear Heathcote Families.
Our book of the month for February combines the creative forces of two children’s book powerhouses, Joan Holub and Melissa Sweet. Together they turn the old story of Little Red Riding Hood into a fresh new adventure celebrating the creativity and skill it takes to write a story. In Little Red Writing, a simple assignment in pencil school sends Little Red on the adventure of a lifetime as she braves a journey down the story path, using her nouns, adjectives and adverbs to get her all the way to Principal Granny’s office where she must face the Wolf 3000 pencil sharpener!
This fractured fairy tale must be read several times to find all of the details, jokes and writing tips that it has to offer. Have fun and get creative!
Best,
