• October

    Our first mystery reader this month was Mr. & Mrs. Savziky. They read us a book called Morris Goes to School by B. Wiseman. Students rotated through 4 different stations that connected to the story. There was a math station with real candy and money. There were three English Language Arts stations all pertaining to the story. Ask your child which station they enjoyed the most. Ask your child what the story was about and the lesson learned. 

  • Our second mystery reader this month was Mr. Varriale. He read us a book called There Was An Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams. Ask your child about the story. Ask your child why the old lady was not afraid of anything. As an activity, students decorated various Halloween decorations to get us in the pre-Halloween spirit. A good time was had by all. 

  • November

     

    Our first mystery reader this month was Liz Rubinstein. She read us a book called A Place For Pluto by Stef Wade. We learned about how Pluto was no longer part of the group of planets. Students did a coloring activity. 

  • Our next mystery reader this month was Mr. Jay Wang. He read us a book called Clark The Shark by Bruce Hale. Students made their own shark out of a paper envelope.

  • December

    This month Mr. Kutticherry came to read us a book called Salt In His Shoes:Michael Jordan In Pursuit Of A Dream by Deloris Jordan. Ask your child the lesson learned in the book. After reading, students play a friendly game of Bingo. 

  • January

     

    We kicked off the new year with Mrs. Stacey Strauss. She read us a book called The Boy Who Never Gives Up-A Children's Book on Stephen Curry by Anthony Curcio. Students made tissue paper basketballs.

  • Our next mystery reader was Julie Heimann. She read us a book called The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. Students received blank puzzles to draw a design on. Then, students tried to put the puzzles back together of a friend. 

     

  • Our next mystery reader was Mrs. Leptak. She read us a book called Dragon Dance by Joan Halub. We made lucky money envelopes for Chinese New Year.

  • February

    Our mystery reader this month was Mrs. Kivort. She read us a book called We Don't Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins. Students did a scratch art heart project and connect the dot activity. 

  • March

    Our mystery reader was Mrs. Fishman. She read us a book called Velma Gratch And The Way Cool Butterfly. Students designed their own butterflies with markers and glitter. They wrote about Spring. We can't wait for warmer sunny days.

     

  • Our next mystery reader was Ramya Valchetti. She read us a book called Sarabella's Thinking Cap by Judy Schachner. This book celebrates imagination and creativity while addressing the expectations of the classroom setting. As a project, students made their own thinking caps. 

  • Our last mystery reader this month was Vanessa Hogarth. She read us a book called Dear Mr. Blueberry by Simon James. This was another great story about imagination. Students also learned many facts about whales. Students painted their sea animals as a project. 

  • April

    Our first mystery reader this month was Valerie Arnold. She read us a book called Casey At The Bat by Ernest Lawrence Thayer. Students created their own foam sports figures for a project.

  • Our last mystery reader this month was Annie Barron. She read us a book called Peanut Butter & Cupcake by Terry Border. We played different mulptiplication bingo games that connected to the story. We also did a word search connected to the story.

     

  • May

    We started our month with Mr. Benderson. He read us a book called Mr. Chicken Arriva A Roma by Leigh Hobbs. It was about the chicken who travels to Rome, Italy. Students made their own Mr. Chicken puppets and completed a word search that connected to the story. 

  • Our next mystery reader was Mrs. Wolfson. She read us a book called Anansi Goes Fishing by Eric Kimmel. Students made their very own spiders with pipe cleaners for an activity.

     

  • June

    Our first June mystery reader was Evan Rappaport. He read us a book called What If You Had Animal Ears by Sndra Markle. Students learned facts about the ears of certain animals. Students chose which animal ears they would like to have. They wrote about the fact they learned about the animal ears. 

  • Our next mystery reader this month was Amy Tieng. She read us a book called The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin. Students completed an activity connected to the book. A good time was had by all.

  • Our next mystery reader was Mrs. Tanya Bamji. She read us a book called Peanut Butter and Cupcake by Terry Border. Students made the cutest puppets as an activity. 

  • Next up was Mrs. Pam Yao. She read us a book called What Do You Do With A Chance by Kobi Yamada.  Students made posters about what they would do with a chance.
