We use the Advancing Literacy program to teach writing in First Grade. Throughout all four units, students work on planning, drafting, spelling, editing, revising and sharing. First graders explore several writing genres in the following units:

• Unit 5: From Scenes to Series: Writing Fiction

Writing is a special time where students express themselves and write about what matters to them! They incorporate everything they are learning in reading and phonics to become stronger writers.
