Solids and Liquids      solids and liquids

Our class has begun a scientific study of solids and liquids. Through inquiry, observation, and communication we have been learning how different solids and liquids are alike and differ and about their properties.

    Solids
The photo gallery below shows students working with the different properties of solids as they build a tower.

    Liquids
Students investigate different liquids to develop their concept of a liquid. Working at centers they tip, twirl, shake, roll, and investigate seven liquids in small clear plastic bottles. After they describe their properties and develop their vocabulary of liquids.

    Liquids & Solids Mixed
Students investigate mixing solids and liquids to study changing states of matter.
